We regularly get asked ‘what is your typical client like?’
That’s an easy one. You.
Our clients range in age from 18 to over 100. They come from all races from all over the world. They come in all different colours, all shapes and sizes. They speak many languages. Some are very rich with millions in the bank. Some have just their last few thousand (and in a few cases their last hundreds). Some own dozens of properties while some rent. Some have no children while some have more than a dozen grandchildren. Some have a husband/wife. Some have partners, some have both! Many are single now or single again. Some have lost their loved ones. Some have no-one.
Some find us on the internet, some find us from advertisements. Some find us from a mention in the press. Many find us from a recommendation from either their financial adviser or their accountant or mortgage broker. Most find us via a referral from a current client. Some find us when they witness a will for someone else.
Most stay with us for years, very few leave us. Those that do leave tend to be the dearly departed. That usually leads more clients to us from the deceased’s family and friends when they find out what they should have done, much earlier.
Some clients come to us to protect their children’s inheritance. Some ask for their children to have named guardians in the sad event that the child loses both parents. Some come to us to help battle their inheritance tax bills by planning early. Some come to us to protect their homes being taken away to pay for their nursing and care home bills. Some come to us to allocate their estates between family’s children from more than one marriage. Some want to ensure the right children gain the right amount at the right time. Some want to leave cherished items to special people. Some come to us because they need complicated trusts setting up to help the disabled. Some need trusts to protect family money, legacies and keep articles in the family line.
Some come to us because they want their business protecting if a director or a partner dies.
Some just want their will writing.
Some come to us so they can have their finances and health managed by a trusted person if they’re too ill (either short term or forever) or incapable of making sound judgements and decisions.
That’s our clients: you.
