Much has been made of the public display of the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ last will & testament. It’s available on the internet, so we repeat the link below to make this easy for you to find, here:

It makes very interesting reading.
Not all wills are available to see online.
For copies of wills from 1858 to 1943 you’ll have to go to look on microfiche at The National Archives at Kew.
For wills after 1943, you’ll need to go to:
Probate Search Room which is at:
Principal Registry of the Family Division
First Avenue House
42-49 High Holborn
London, WC1V 6NP
Telephone number: +44 (0) 20 7947 6000 (Royal Courts of Justice switchboard)
Copies of wills are accessible from the York Probate Sub-Registry by post, provided you know the date of death. The Sub-Registry is located at:
York Probate Sub-Registry
First Floor
Castle Chambers
Clifford Street
York, YO1 9RG
If you are looking for general records then a good starting place is the National Archives, which is found at:

They now show passenger lists, for people entering the UK in years gone by (no, not this week!)
Among the descendants of some of the 18 million men, women and children who came to the UK during the latter years of the British Empire is World Champion Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton. Congratulations to another UK world champion.
