That's pretty good advice. A will is an important document for you as well as the people mentioned in it. Great care must be taken to ensure that it is prepared well.

We do need to think about how make the world a better place for all animal's before we die, money is no use after we are dead,it would be much better in the hand's of charitys, to help stop cruelty and abuse, that does gon on every day! In the streets, family home, unseen by us! If only animal's could talk! To tell the passer by Please HELP ME?!When we go out and see people with dogs, taking them for a walk, they look at us but they can't say how much suffering they are subject to everyday! My heart goes to them and i hope the they will break free! One day...please? anybody help? In anyway that you can..If you see a dog in a car,on a hot summer's day!Don't just walk away..Please? Call the RSPCA or leave a note.. On the window screen of the car ,asking the person not to do that again..Just a simple juster like that, will help this poor dog's that stay for hour's on end, waiting to go home.I see them in car's outside pub's,supermarket,park's..Every where..This is suposed to be an animal loving nation?Well let's prove it them? Please be a great citizen? And do whatever you can to help them,I'm not from this country and i don't have much money to spend on myself ,but i have rescued 9 cats from the street's and have helped them, i help any animal in destress any where that i see them whenever i can. What goes around, come's around..let's be good while we're still here?maybe one day you will be rewarded..And your heart will feel lighter then..specially when we are in bed at night. If we give love..

This is a very serious document that you should read as much about as possible especially if you are to be an executor.

There is normally a lot of cost and organisation involved after someone dies and having someone in mind you know who’s been through the process will help considerably (this would be a very hard times. You will need good people close). This can be a friend or family member as well as professionals.

For most people this is a very simple document and the tax implications only kick in if your estate is valued over the Inheritance nil band of currently £312k and =double this if you are married and leaving everything to your spouse. I say currently as this figure usually increases every year and the law can change before you die.

Senteran looks likea good idea, but I'm not sure many 75 year olds will tackle this task, however good the idea. They would have to ask their grandchildren to complete it.

Great post. Hit it on the button. All your little items and treasures, probably cupboards full of them, stuff like that is hard to organize in official wills etc.
Theres another more modern option that you need to consider: save it on an online repository at a site like www.senterna.com
What I'd do is just record a video and post it up on that site and just vocally rattle off the list of items you want to leave behind and why. Then the right people will know what they get and importantly - why they are getting it. Much quicker, and they will probably appreciate the gifts much much more.
If you do that, the video or text will be released when you go, and then everyone will know your wishes. You can even lift up and show them the item as you record it just so theres no confusion.

An update: The family believed Mr Swanston did not include Ms Powell, in the will because it was a potential embarrassment to Florence, to whom he still remained married.

Instead it was suggested he wanted to leave a seprate payment of £2,000 for Ms Powell who he enjoyed a 14-year relationship with.

On learning of the omission Ms Powell launched a civil action against the estate for £500,000 but eventually settled for £10,000.

Mr Swansons's son has been cleared of forging any part of the will, in a recent court case.
