There are so many things to plan for, when you think about your funeral, that it’s best to start sooner rather than later.
What type of funeral would you want; a funeral or a cremation?
Do you have a particualr undertaker in mind?
Where do you want the service – if you want a service at all? Do you want a humanist (non religious) service?
Who do you want to officiate at the service?
What muscial selection would you require?
Who would you want to read and what would you want them to read?
Do you want flowers; do you have a particular favourite? Would you prefer people made donations to your favourite charity instead of buying flowers?
Do you have any special instructions? Do you want a ‘green’ funeral’? Would you want a woodland burial? Where do you want your ashes scattering? Do you own a plot of land for your burial? Do you want freezing and let science use you later? Do you want your organs used immediately after you die?
Do you want your relatives to make these decisions for you?
If the answer to the last question is ‘NO!’ then you’ll need to consider a pre-paid funeral plan.
You can pay for your funeral at today’s prices, thus saving you from inflation. You can let the funeral plan proivider arrange everything with either the undertaker of your choice or one they find for you – it’s not something we usually shop around for, is it?
You can pay over a short term or even up to five years if that helps cash flow.
Then you’ll have helped your relations from wondering if they made choices that you would have made. You’ve done it all in advance and you can forget it.
You can contact your local LSUK consultant who will will take you through the available plans and options so you can mix and match until you get exactly what you want and match your finances.

Arranging your funeral as early as now would not only cost you less but would also lessen the burden of your family. It is quite morbid to think about it now but it’s just practical to ready ourselves of the reality and difficulty of preparing for an untimely death.
